The intensity of the many emotions we may feel in grief are directly proportional to our expectations of the permanence of what we’ve lost or what we might lose. It is that expectation that fuels denial – and the chaos of denying the reality that stares us in the face incites or adds fuel to the other emotions associated with our grief. If we value our attachments, and the more attachments we create, the greater the chance that we will be faced with grief. The answer isn’t to avoid grief by avoiding or eliminating attachments, but to become mindful – to be present – and to let go of our expectations instead. It isn’t the loss of attachment that hurts so much as the loss of expectation and illusion of permanence. Release the expectations and release the suffering they cause.

Thursday Jan 06, 2022

Thursday Jan 06, 2022

If resentment is the poison, then Love & Forgiveness is the antidote. In the previous episode, I talked about how you can find the unconditional love that is already inside you. In this episode, I want to take that one step further and show you how to use that love to find forgiveness – for yourself and others. And, if this episode stinks, you can start practicing forgiveness right away!

This episode was taken from a YouTube video I did back in January 2020. The topic – how to love your SELF – is foundational to everything this podcast is about. In this very personal message, learn what unconditional love actually is, why you must love and forgive yourself and how to find that love within you. John Daughety

Hi, I’m John Daughety, a spiritual guide, author, and the voice behind The Loved podcast. My journey has been one of searching for deeper connection—first with myself, and then with the world around me. Raised in a Southern Baptist home, I wrestled with my faith, identity, and the traditional expectations placed on me. Over time, I found my true calling, not as a preacher, but as someone who helps others discover their own inner peace through the power of unconditional love, forgiveness, and thought awareness.

My work isn’t about religion—it’s about spirituality, connection, and acceptance. Whether through my book It’s Just a Thought or the guided meditations I offer, my mission is to help people reconnect with their own spiritual truth. My belief is simple: love, when given unconditionally, can transform lives—starting from within.

I invite you to join me as we explore how shifting our thoughts can shift our lives, how forgiveness can heal deep wounds, and how living in love can set us free.
